Our Activities
The Central Library of JAEA Library is located at the Nuclear Science Research Inst. in Tokai, Ibaraki. It has a coordinating function for all branch libraries in each JAEA sites.
The mission of JAEA Library is to provide essential information services to the JAEA research and development in nuclear science and technology, and ether subjects as they support the JAEA's primary scientific and technical mission.

To collect and provide library materials as nuclear information center
JAEA Library is providing 50 thousand books, 2,000 academic journals and 800 thousand technical reports in the fields of nuclear science as the largest nuclear information center in Japan. Primary subject areas covered include nuclear technology, chemistry, physics, material science, computer science, engineering, etc.
The library committed to innovation and continues to increase desktop access to library service through electronic journals, online databases, web resource guides, and electronic request forms. The library staff provides specialized information services and maintains collections at thirteen sites across JAEA reservation.
OPAC enables you to search all the library materials, and we also provide photocopy service for users in Japan.
To publish technical reports originated from JAEA's R&D results and distribute them widely in Japan and abroad
JAEA Library is editing and publishing JAEA Reports ("JAEA Research" etc.) which is technical report of JAEA R&D activities. We are distributing them to related institutes around the world. We are also making documentation about papers contributed to journals by JAEA staff.
We provide information of research results of JAEA via the Internet "JOPSS" is "JAEA Originated Papers Searching System" which you can search and browse information of research results brought by JAEA staff. You can download full-text data (PDF format) of JAEA Reports.
We are also editing and publishing "JAEA R&D Review" which aimed at informing you about the current R&D of JAEA. You can download full-text data (PDF Format) of "JAEA R&D Review".
In this way, we are making effort for documentation about R&D results of JAEA correctly and speedy, and dissemination them over the world.
To collect and provide information in the fields of nuclear science from all over the world
JAEA is nominated as National Center of International Nuclear Information System (INIS) which is operated by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). JAEA Library prepares bibliographic records about nuclear related literatures published in Japan, and provides them to IAEA. We also make effort to promote utilizations of INIS database in Japan.
