INIS National Center of Japan
International Nuclear Information System (INIS) was established in 1970 by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The purpose of INIS is fostering the exchange of scientific and technical information on peaceful uses of atomic energy. Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) is designated by Japanese government as INIS National Center of Japan. We arrange bibliographic records about nuclear related literature published in Japan, and provide them to INIS Database. Besides, we make efforts to promote utilizations of INIS database in Japan.
In recent years, Japan is contributing more than 4000 records annually to INIS by JAEA. JAEA serves as a central role concerning input preparation supported by outsourcing company. We outsource the preparation and arrangement of the records in non-core areas such as environmental & earth science, life science and so on.
Conducting promotional activities is one of the important INIS Member's responsibilities. We hold the small seminar of the INIS database at universities / organizations to meet the demand of INIS database users. We also have demonstration activities at academic meeting related to nuclear energy to promote the potential users.
We also organize the INIS Advisory Committee in order to carry out our activities smoothly and appropriately. Committee members are selected from experts of a nuclear field, and the committee discusses and examines about the important matters about INIS activities once a year.
